UK contractor in green awards double

The United Kingdom-based specialist contractor, Cawarden, has received gold and silver recognition from the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice.

The company, located in Derby in the English midlands, was recognised for a project at the former Summit Colliery site in nearby Nottinghamshire.

Cawarden won both gold and silver recognition at the Green Apple Awards

Cawarden received the accolades for its remediation and conservation work on behalf of Bolsover Properties.

This meant the site could be redeveloped for commercial or industrial use while providing a long-term sustainable solution to protect plants and butterflies that had flourished on there.

“We are delighted to have won gold and silver in the International Green Apple Environment Awards,” said Cawarden managing director William Crooks.

“These prestigious award wins have shone a light on our unwavering commitment and passion for the environment as well as the partnership approach we take to supporting our clients to achieve their sustainable development goals.”

Darren Rideout, head of land regeneration and planning at Bolsover Properties, added: “Congratulations to Cawarden on winning gold and silver at the Green Apple Awards. I am incredibly proud that Summit Colliery has received this international award recognition.”

The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management, REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland) and other independent bodies.
