The 25 tonne class PC240LC-11 Stage IV/Tier 4 Final compliant tracked excavator is claimed to offer fuel savings and performance gains

According to Komatsu, its latest 25 tonne class tracked excavator, the Stage IV compliant PC240-11 features a more environmentally friendly Komatsu engine, up to 6% improved fuel efficiency, an upgraded cab design and enhanced serviceability. Productivity is maximized and operating costs are reduced, said the company.

The Komatsu engine integrates Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR), to further reduce NOx emissions using the AdBlueadditive. With an advanced electronic control system that manages the air-flow rate, fuel injection, combustion parameters and after treatment functions, the engine optimises performance, reduces emissions, and provides advanced diagnostic capability. Customers benefit from lower fuel consumption with no loss of performance. Komatsu uses a Komatsu Variable Geometry Turbocharger (KVGT) and an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve for precise temperature and air management control and for longer component life.

The hydraulic system on the machine uses a closed centre load sensing hydraulic system that features Variable Speed Matching technology. This allows the engine speed to adjust based on the hydraulic pump output for both light and heavy-duty applications. Additional enhancements have been made within the hydraulic system to reduce hydraulic loss, resulting in better efficiency.

The second new machine, the 8.5-8.8 tonne PC88MR-10, is a Stage IIIB compliant reduced radius tail swing unit that also features improved efficiency, lower fuel consumption, improved operator comfort and enhanced serviceability. It bridges the gap between compact and construction sized excavators and can work in a wide variety of applications in construction, utility and landscaping.
