UK-based surface preparation specialist Trelawny has launched a range of battery powered surface preparation equipment.

The new VoltMax products – which were debuted at the UK’s Executive Hire Show earlier this year – comprise battery-powered versions of the TFP200 scarifier, TCG250 grinder and TFS230 stripper, with plans for more to follow.

The machines all use 82V lithium-ion batteries, which Trelawny said was a first for the surface preparation industry. The manufacturer said the power unit will “ensure consistent, maximum and high torque power…throughout use.”

Trelawny said a single charge will deliver run times of around 35 minutes for the scarifier and grinder, and 60 minutes for the stripper, depending on the application and environment. The average charge time will be from 30 minutes.

As well as offering a cleaner and quieter operation, the battery powered units will provide lower hand-arm vibration (HAV).

A dual port, 8A charger will powers two batteries simultaneously. The units have built-in cooling and LED status indicators, allowing operators to see how much power is available.

Dan Rowledge, who became managing director of Trelawny in late 2024, said it was more than just another product launch; “Introducing battery-power into our existing line-up of electric, petrol and air powered equipment is a natural evolution for us.

“While the notion of cordless machines has long been tabled, it is only now the lithium battery power, specifically the 82V units, can be dove-tailed into our tech to ensure our units have the same capabilities as our tried and tested machines but with the total convenience of simply placing a charged battery into the unit.”

Trewlawny said the machines would offer contractors and facility managers a “forward-thinking solution” that aligned with tightening health and safety regulations and sustainability targets.

Established in the mid-1940s, Trelawny SPT is part of the Indutrade Group based in Sweden.
