Mobile crushing and screening equipment manufacturer Terex Materials Processing (MP) has purchased a manufacturing facility in Jiading District, Shanghai to produce Powerscreen machines for the Chinese market.

The 18,000 sq m (194,000 sq ft) building is a manufacturing first for Powerscreen in China, and the company said it has accelerated manufacturing plans by around two years.

“This investment will enable us to be a formidable competitor in China,” said Terex MP president Kieran Hegarty.

“Additionally, this expansion will support our growth plans without impacting our production capacity at other Terex facilities.”

Powerscreen has been in China since 2016 following government legislation supporting the use of recycled materials.

Since then, it has grown its market presence through its China sales and service team and distribution network.

A dedicated team from Powerscreen’s Northern Ireland base will be on site to oversee scale-up of production in China and training of the local is already underway team. The first locally produced machines are expected before the end of this year.

Kieran Hegarty added: “Mobile crushing and screening equipment plays a basic, yet vital, role in the sustainable building of infrastructure.

“This facility will accelerate our manufacturing plans for China and will enable us to assist commercial ventures with the right equipment.”
