Sales landmark reached by Pilot Crushtec

Sandvik sole distributor Pilot Crushtec, responsible for former’s equipment in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, has reached a major milestone with the sale of more than 50 units since the distributor agreement was signed just 18 months ago. More than 40% of these machines have gone into the mining sector, with a further 30% sold into quarrying and construction applications.

The appointment of Pilot Crushtec, according to Sandvik, was the precursor to a campaign intended to see the company gain a substantial share of the market for crushing and screening equipment in the region.

Pilot Crushtec international sales director Graham Kleinhans said: “Our partnership with Sandvik coincided with the beginning of the current economic downturn, but the fact remains that our sales of products in these categories have actually increased during this period.”

He attributed this to three significant factors. First, Pilot Crushtec International read the market correctly in perceiving a large-scale pent up demand for high capacity machinery and, second, the historical strength and acceptance of the Sandvik brand in African markets.

Finally, a distribution strategy was implemented that ensured that the key elements were in place from the very beginning, underpinned by comprehensive stocks of finished products and spares, backed by fully trained service and installation teams.

Herbert Buder, Global Distributor Manager Sandvik Construction congratulated Pilot Crushtec on their successful first 18 months:
“The combination of Sandvik equipment and global aftermarket support, together with the local knowledge and industry expertise of Pilot Crushtec, has enabled Sandvik customers throughout the area to benefit from a winning combination. We congratulate all at Pilot Crushtec on their success and long may it continue.”
