Russian company is 2021 New Entrant winner

There is no shortlist for the New Entrant Award, but that does not make it any less difficult to decide than the other categories.

Now in its fifth year, the qualifying criteria for New Entrant remain the same, namely that the selected company must have entered either for the first time or after an absence of at least three years, and it must have scored highly with the judges without winning the category it entered for.

Volgaspettstroy Voronezh nuclear plant Under budget and 99% recycling at Voronezh

Both were the case with Volgaspetsstroy, which emerged to take the New Entrant award from the high-quality Industrial Demolition field.

The Voronezh contract provides for three stages. At the first stage, the reinforced concrete structures of the special water treatment building are dismantled, the structure of which consists of precast-monolithic reinforced concrete, the maximum height of the structure is 17.7 m (58 ft), the thickness of the main walls and floors of the building is 0.6 m (2 ft), and individual structures, such as mines and wells have a wall thickness of up to 1.5 m (5 ft).

The judges’ summary of the Voronezh project reflected some impressive figures: “To reduce budget and man hours without compromising on safety makes a global statement of planning and determination. Add in a 99% recycling rate and this is a truly amazing project.”
