Powerscreen opens Indian production centre

03 September 2009

A new Powerscreen factory in Hosur, India, has been officially opened that will supply mobile crushing and screening equipment to meet the expected growth in demand resulting from the country's ambitious infrastructure construction plans as well as its growing commercial demands. In addition, Powerscreen is extending its distribution network in the country, with three new distributors scheduled to joint its network later in 2009, with the aim of providing a high level of after-sales service and support.

According to Kieran Hegarty, vice president Terex Materials Processing: " At Terex, we believe that infrastructure investment is a pathway to prosperity. We are very pleased to be building equipment in India at a time when the country is investing substantially in infrastructure development to help ensure the economic well-being of its citizens."

He continued, "Mobile crushing and screening equipment plays a basic, yet vital, role in building infrastructure. We are ready to assist both government projects and commercial ventures with the right equipment carrying the Powerscreen name built by Indian workers and sold through an enhanced distribution network."

The new Powerscreen factory currently has a workforce of 45 and its very first machine, a Chieftain 1700, is under assembly.
