Political considerations postpone DCT 2015

09 February 2015

With elections due in June 2015, the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning has requested that the Conference jointly organised by KHL Group and Apa Yayincilik be postponed. The Ministry has requested that the event not take place until after the Minister has formally accepted the new Turkish demolition regulations, which now will not occur until after these elections have taken place.

The Ministry has indicated its full support for the event should we agree to this postponement, but has asked that a firm date not be set for the event at this time. Should we decide that the event go ahead as initially planned in March 2015, the Ministry went on to say that given the nature of the political system in Turkey, no formal Ministry presence or any formal presence from municipality governments would be possible at the event.

As a result, KHL and Apa have reluctantly accepted that the March 2015 date is not a viable option and have decided to postpone Demolition Conference Turkey 2015 to a date yet to be determined. The rescheduled date will be announced jointly by KHL and Apa as soon as possible after completion of the elections and the formal acceptance of the new demolition regulations.
