O’Brien Demolition auction draws global interest

UK-based construction equipment auctioneers Euro Auctions has hosted a one-day equipment sale for demolition and dismantling company G O’Brien & Sons.
Held on 22 September, at O’Brien’s Wallsend Aggregate Centre in Tyne and Wear in the north east of England, the auction attracted “a global audience of seasoned industry buyers”.
Around 570 lots of specialised demolition equipment from G O’Brien & Sons were auctioned.
Around 480 propective buyers from 41 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Far East and the US bid on over 570 lots of specialist demolition equipment, tools and attachments.
Matt Wood, territory manager for Euro Auctions, said: “This sale attracted a very specific audience of industry specialists who knew exactly what they were looking for.
“Some of the items for sale rarely come to market and that piqued the interest of international bidders.”
According to Euro Actions - which is soon to be acquired by Ritchie Bros - the heavy machine sale included a 2016 Terex Finlay 883+ SPALECK 3-way split flip flow screener, a 2015 McCloskey J40V2 tracked crusher and a 2008 Hitachi ZX870LCH-3 excavator with a 4.5 t 3-piece demolition rig.
Matt said: “Seeing that 77% of successful buyers were online demonstrates how euro auctions can accommodate buyers around the world without the need to travel to sales.”
He added that “prices were strong and with a catalogue of well-maintained specialist demolition equipment and tools, interest was very high.”
