D&Ri can announce that two more speakers have been confirmed for the conference programme at the 2014 World Demolition Summit at the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolski in Amsterdam on November 6, 2014.

First, Safedem managing director and NFDC president William Sinclair will discuss how explosive demolition is applied as part of inner city regeneration projects. Safedem has carried out a number of high profile and challenging tower block explosive demolition projects across Scotland in recent years, assisting a number of housing agencies with the clearance of outdated mass housing complexes dating back to the early 1960s. Safedem was also initially charged with the demolition of five of the Red Road towers in Glasgow as part of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. These plans were subsequently changed and the towers will be brought down in a simultaneous blowdown at a date to be announced – a presentation on this project is certain to be a highlight of next year’s World Demolition Summit.

Also now confirmed for the event is Cardem’s Patrick Frye, who will tackle the thorny issue of asbestos remediation as part of demolition projects. The French regulations that govern his company’s activities where this hazardous substance is concerned have recently been changed and he will discuss the implications for the industry of the adoption of the new standards.

Full details on both presentations will shortly be available on www.demolitionsummit.com
