Komatsu has expanded its excavator line for the European market with two variations of its 11-series 36 tonne machines equipped with Komatsu’s machine control system.

The PC360LCi-11 and PC360NLCi-11 - the ‘N’ relates to the latter machine’s narrow undercarriage - with iMC 2.0 (intelligent machine control 2.0) offer a number of new features.

The first is Auto Tilt Control that enables easier operation of tilting buckets on slope and ditch work.

Also new is automatic limit to under-digging and greater bucket fill, with the ability for the bucket to automatically tilt to the design surface with no need for the operator to manually intervene.

Another new addition, Bucket Angle Hold, means the operator no longer needs to use the lever to maintain the bucket angle through grading pass. Once the desired angle is selected, this feature automatically maintains it as the arm moves in.

Other additions include an updated iMC 2.0 monitor, now 36% slimmer and 38% lighter than previous versions, with improved touchscreen navigation and increased memory.

Meanwhile Tilt Bucket Integration is now available through an IMU sensor that can be mounted on varied types and shapes of tilting bucket and increases attachment and machine utilisation.

“On the previous model we had examples of customers using iMC to replace standard excavators” says Rob Macintyre, Product Manager at Komatsu Europe.

“They immediately benefitted from using their machine for grading as well as for truck loading, allowing them to redeploy other equipment and to really optimise their fleet on the jobsite.

“We believe that the new iMC 2.0 versions will give them even more opportunities to do this.”

Operating weights of the PC360LCi/NLCi-11 range from 35,770 to 36,850kg, with a maximum recommended bucket capacity of 2.66m3.

The Stage V Komatsu engine has a power output of 202kW/271HP at 1950rpm. Also included are Komtrax telematics, and the Komatsu CARE maintenance program for customers.

The excavators are also supported by original Komatsu intelligent Machine Control features including Auto Stop Control, Auto Grade Assist and Minimum Distance Control.

Operators can also connect remotely and transfer project design files through a Smart Construction Remote subscription.
