Canadian specialist contractor Priestly Demolition has appointed a new CEO as part of a series of executive leadership appointments.
Shane Stewart has been appointed chief executive and president of the company, which ranks 24th in the list of the world’s 100 biggest demolition contractors, according to the D&RI 100 published in December 2025.
Meanwhile, Brian Priestly has been named chief operating officer and Andrew Smith chief financial officer. The appointments take effect immediately.
The company said Stewart joins at a pivotal stage as Priestly Demolition accelerates growth and diversification across its demolition, environmental and infrastructure activities in Canada and the US.
He was previously president and chief operating officer of Alberta-based Northern Mat & Bridge. His background includes senior leadership roles across construction and infrastructure-related sectors, with experience managing complex and remote operations. The company also highlighted his work with Indigenous communities and experience in family-owned businesses as aligned with Priestly Demolition’s culture.
The internal promotions of Priestly and Smith are intended to strengthen continuity within the senior leadership team. As chief operating officer, Priestly will oversee operational strategy and execution across all divisions, building on his role in supporting the company’s expansion and organisational development.
Smith will continue to lead financial strategy, planning and governance as chief financial officer, having guided the business through periods of increased scale and complexity.
As part of the transition, Ryan Priestly will step down from the chief executive role to focus on his position as owner, providing long-term strategic oversight and supporting the executive team.
