New 36 tonner from Cat

Cat’s latest excavator launch is the Stage IV compliant 36.2 to 38.9 tonne 336F tracked excavator that replaces the previous ‘E’ series version. Power comes from a 236 kW (317 hp) C9.3 diesel that uses a diesel particulate filter regeneration system that the company says does not interrupt work cycles or require operation. According to Cat, a number of new features enhance overall fuel efficiency and deliver full savings of up to 8% compared to the 336E.

Undercarriage choices for the new model include the heavy-duty long (L) and long/narrow (LN) configurations. Massive frames and counterweight combine to form an exceptionally strong, stable work platform for digging, lifting and attachment use.

The heavy-duty (HD) 6.5 m (21.4 ft) reach boom and three stick options - 3.9 m (12.8 ft) available only with the long undercarriage, 3.2 m (10.5 ft) and 2.8 m (9.2 ft) - provide excellent all-around versatility for general excavation work, such as multipurpose digging and loading. The 6.2 m (20.4 ft) mass excavation (ME) boom and matching 2.6 m (8.5 ft) stick are designed for enhanced performance and production when moving high volumes of heavy material.

Ground-level access to most major maintenance points, an electric fuel-priming pump, remote fuel-tank drain and a fuel-level indicator (to avoid overfilling) simplify routine service, and machine features such as the cab-integrated ROPS, anti-skid surfaces, programmable halogen working lights, large skylight and a standard rearview camera system enhance safety.
