The National Demolition Association has launched an on-line training system, NDA Online Training, that it says offers more than 2,000 eLearning courses that meet the specialised requirements of the construction industry. Powered by software management provider Portico Learning Solutions, it is available to both NDA members and the industry at large.

According to NDA executive director Mike Taylor: "we decided to take the initiative by making these essential courses available to professionals involved in the demolition process in areas such as environmental health and safety, transportation and IT skills. We identified Portico as the premier source of custom eLearning course development and decided to partner with them on this ambitious undertaking."

The self-paced interactive courses feature a sophisticated course management programme that tracks progress through individual courses, the sections that have been completed and which have been visitied, and how many modules the user has completed and been tested on. Once a course is purchased, users can access the system as frequently as they like during a 12 month period. Testing is conducted following the completion of each module in a course and a grade instantly issued. A certificate is also issued once all modules have been completed.

The system's portal is to be found within the NDA Learning Center, a page on the NDA website, www.demolitionassociation.com.
