Metso unveils AI-driven digital tools for aggregates operations

The new offering brings together several digital tools into a single integrated platform aimed at helping quarry operators and contractors monitor equipment performance, manage maintenance and optimise production.

The portfolio consists of three modules – AI-powered Predictive Maintenance, Production Performance and MyMetso digital access – which together provide real-time insights, remote monitoring and data-driven recommendations.

Jaakko Huhtapelto, vice president, technology and digital business for aggregates at Metso, said the initiative builds on the company’s equipment expertise while expanding the use of connected data and analytics.

“Our mission is to help our customers keep their plants running with confidence. By combining proven digital technologies with decades of Metso crushing and screening expertise, we can make equipment easier to operate, maintain and optimise,” said Huhtapelto. 

The AI-powered Predictive Maintenance service is designed to help operators avoid unplanned downtime by identifying early signs of equipment issues before failures occur.

Metso said the system analyses live machine data and combines it with its equipment expertise to provide recommendations through the MyMetso digital platform.

Predictive recommendations are available for machines equipped with existing Metso Metrics connectivity hardware, while upgrade kits are available for older machines.

Metso has also introduced a subscription-based Production Performance service designed to increase throughput and improve operator visibility across crushing operations.

The system includes Adaptive Feed Control (AFC), which automatically adjusts the process to keep crushers operating at optimal load levels in multi-unit mobile crushing setups. Metso said field results show the technology can increase throughput by between 5% and 15%, depending on the application.

The renewed digital services portfolio will be rolled out in phases starting in March 2026. AI-powered Predictive Maintenance and MyMetso will be available globally, while Production Performance subscriptions will initially launch in North America and Europe.
