McCloskey targets busy Q1 after ‘record year’

The senior vice president of crushing and screening equipment specialist McCloskey International says the company will introduce new products in the first quarter of 2022.

In an interview that will appear in the January-February issue of Demolition & Recycling International (D&Ri), Toni Laaksonen said that 2021 had been the company’s best year so far for sales figures and “we have a fair chance that we can even exceed those figures next year”.

Toni Laaksonen, SVP McCloskey International Toni Laaksonen says 2022 brings a number of positive challeges for McCloskey

Describing the company’s research and development pipeline since its acquisition by Metso (now Metso Outotec) in 2019 as “significant”, Toni said new products would focus on heavy duty crushing under both the McCloskey and Lippmann brands, along with environmental solutions from McCloskey Environmental.

After overcoming the impact of Covid-19, which forced the temporary closure of McCloskey’s Northern Ireland factories and affected supply chains with the rest of the United Kingdom, the company has grown and strengthened its dealer network and invested in establishing a presence in Asia.

“From our point of view, we haven’t seen any markets where the sales level has declined. All the markets are up compared to 2020 and 2019,” said Toni.

“In that sense this year has been strong in many ways, and it looks really positive for 2022.

“At the moment the biggest challenges are do we have enough containers, how are the logistics costs between Asia and Europe, and then, obviously, how many components are available?

“But these are all positive challenges. The more we can manufacture, the more we can sell, and next year we can set more new records.”
