Making new tracks - Sirius goes for Volvo

13 August 2013

The UK’s Sirius Group, a specialist in land remediation, site investigation and drilling, specialised demolition and asbestos removal, has taken delivery of four new Volvo tracked excavators, which have been deployed on a range of projects across the UK.

The machines are a 22 tonne EC220D, two 25 tonne EC250Ds and a 30 tonne EC300D, and are the first Volvo machines purchased by Sirius in its 10 year history. They have been supplied with Volvo's Blue service agreements including machine inspections. The excavators join a mixed fleet of dozers, drilling rigs, screens, crushers and dumpers.

Sirius Group's operations manager Stuart Kirk said of the purchase: "While this is the first time we’ve bought Volvos for our plant fleet we are pretty familiar with the product having hired in various models from local hire companies over a period of time and have been impressed with the quality and specification of the machines,."

He continued: “We had also noted that when comparing like for like the Volvo product offered a significant fuel saving over the competition, so this coupled to our own operators’ acceptance of the product and a competitive package on offer were the deciding factors to opt for Volvo,”
