Learn key safety messages at WDS 2016

Three safety experts will give presentations at this year’s World Demolition Summit (WDS), reflecting the overriding importance of health and safety to the industry.

The conference, which takes place on October 14 in Miami, Florida – the first time it has been held in North America – will see important contributions from senior figures in the sector Brian Hornyak (vice president, major projects, Sabre Demolition), Mike Casbon (technical director, ERM) and Mark Lies (partner, Seyfarth Shaw).

Brian Hornyak will look at behaviour based safety programs, while Mike Casbon will focus on the need for attention to detail in demolition projects.

Experienced labour attorney Mark Lies will report on the priorities for OSHA in 2017.

“In the demolition industry companies are performing high hazard activities for clients across the world every day”, said Brian.

“My presentation will focus on utilising behaviour based safety in an effort to change employee unsafe behaviours in the workplace, and specifically how it can work in demolition.”

The Summit, which is a combined conference and awards dinner, will take place October 14, Miami, FL, at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay hotel.

In addition to safety, speakers from the USA, Europe, New Zealand and Japan will cover topics including demolition techniques and site reports, recycling reports and equipment trends.

The event is organised by Demolition & Recycling International magazine and KHL Group, in cooperation with the National Demolition Association (NDA).

The European Demolition Association (EDA) is among the supporting associations for the event.
