Next-generation crawler dozers

The OEM is showcasing the new D61PXi-25 dozer with intelligent machine control (IMC 3.0) and the D175AX-10 large production dozer.

The fully redesigned midsize D61PXi-25 offers a claimed 10% improvement in productivity, up to 10% greater fuel efficiency, an 18% increase in grade capacity, and up to 20% more steering power than its predecessor, the D61PXi-24.

The new dozer, which sits in a machine class that is “widely in demand” throughout North America, features IMC 3.0 with a new 10-inch touchscreen and updated user interface, auto steering designed to support consistent operation and reduce operator effort, IMC operation to help maintain functionality if the GNSS signal is lost temporarily, and a redesigned cab with enhanced visibility, ergonomic joystick, and centralised controls.

The new dozer runs on an engine without exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to improve the amount of material that can be moved per gallon of fuel, while the new cab environment aims to help operators maintain focus and comfort through long shifts.

Meanwhile, the D175AX-10 is the first of Komatsu’s next-generation -10 series of large production dozers.

The successor to the D155AX-8 introduces a new main frame, track frames, powertrain, cab, and blade system.

Compared to its predecessor, Komatsu claimed it offers 26% more horsepower, with 450 HP (336kW), a 25% increase in cubic yards of material moved per hour, a 15% enhancement in fuel efficiency, and a 35% tighter turning radius.

It features Komatsu’s newest offroad engine, the DBA127 EGR-less engine, as well as a new four-speed automatic transmission, and a redesigned semi-U blade designed for reduced material resistance and enhanced penetration.

Paul Moore, vice president for products, marketing and service, said, “The contractors and mining operations we work with are asking for measurable performance gains without sacrificing operator comfort or long-term durability.

“With the D61PXi-25 and the D175AX-10, we focused on integrating higher output, more efficient powertrains and advanced control systems that help move more material per pass while supporting operators in the cab.”

New articulated dump truck

Komatsu has also introduced the new HM460-6 articulated dump truck designed around a new, high-output power train, an advanced traction control system, and a redesigned operator environment.

The OEM said the machine is built for construction, quarrying, largescale site development, infrastructure operations, and mining where variable terrain, soft ground, and haul road conditions limit productivity.

The new truck also has a higher-rated payload of 46.3 tons, compared to the 44.2-ton capacity of the HM400-5, allowing more material to be hauled in each cycle.

Like the D175AX-10 dozer, it runs on the DBA127 engine, which has been equipped with a two-stage turbocharger system. It delivers 518 gross horsepower at 1,700 rpm, providing increased torque at lower engine speeds and meets US EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emissions standards.

The EGR-less engine has been paired with a new nine-speed transmission and intelligent gear control. The truck also features the Komatsu Traction Control System, paired with cross-axle differential locks to maintain traction on soft ground, uneven ground.

The redesigned cab increases glass area by 16% and reduced blind spots by 43% compared to the HM400-5. Meanwhile, the control layouts have been revised to pair a high-resolution, 8-inch machine monitor with a 10-inch sub-monitor that provides access to payload data, machine information, and rearview camera feeds.

Pair of new excavators coming later in 2026

Two other machines set to join the Komatsu stable are the new PC158USLC-12 and PC158USLCi-12 excavators, expected to launch later this year.

Both tight tail-swing models, the PC158USLCi-12 differs from its closely named counterpart because it will be Komatsu’s first tight-tail excavator with the latest factory-integrated machine control, IMC3.0.

Both new excavators include a new hydraulic system that provides the ability to customise work equipment speeds, joystick response, and combined operation balance to meet operators’ preferences, as well as a newly designed wide-profile cab to improve visibility and comfort.

They also both feature the Komvision 360° monitoring system with human and object and human detection, along with additional standard features like 2D machine control, 2D boundary control, and a bucket payload monitoring system.

In addition, the PC158USLCi-12 gets a high-definition 10.1in ICT monitor, 3D machine control that semi-autonomously guides movements in real time, 3D boundary control, swing-to-line and travel-along-line functions. IMC 3.0 will also feature in-field design, simple measurements attachment calibration, auto swing, and an enhanced payload monitoring system.
