Indian Demolition Association appoints new Chairman

The Indian Demolition Association (IDA) has announced the appointment of Fazrulla Basha as its Chairman.

Basha, who is also Managing Director of Abcon Concrete Surgeons Pvt Ltd in Bengaluru, brings more than 30 years of experience in demolition, structural repair, retrofitting, and rehabilitation.
Basha founded Abcon Concrete Surgeons and has overseen a range of large-scale industrial, residential, and commercial demolition and retrofitting projects.
During his term at the IDA, which runs until 2027, Basha will lead initiatives aimed at strengthening professional standards within India’s demolition and dismantling sector.
According to the association, his priorities include expanding membership, establishing mentorship programs, and introducing structured certification and training for demolition professionals.
The IDA also plans to roll out a Code of Safety Practices, promote the “Zero Accident Demolition” campaign, and encourage greater adoption of advanced technologies such as robotics and specialised machinery.
Sustainability measures such as promoting the reuse and recycling of demolition waste will form part of the association’s agenda.
Other planned activities include regional workshops, safety seminars, international knowledge-sharing collaborations, and preparations for IDA–Demtech 2026, to be held in partnership with Bauma Conexpo.
The association also intends to publish a best-practice handbook for the industry.
Commenting on his appointment, Basha said: “As the Chairman of IDA, my vision is to ensure that India’s demolition industry transforms into a globally recognized, safe, innovative, and sustainable sector.
“This year will be about laying strong foundations for safety, building collaborations, and positioning IDA as the trusted authority in demolition and dismantling, empowering professionals, protecting lives, and contributing to nation-building.”
