Goldbeck to build Europe’s largest solar farm

The three plants, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in the northwestern part of the country, will form the largest photovoltaic (PV) installation in Europe.

With a total capacity of 722 MWp, the solar farm will be the first large-scale PV plant in Poland directly connected to the 400 kV high-voltage transmission network of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE).

The installation will include a 290 MWp capacity plant in Sidłowo, a 235 MWp facility in Kikowo and the Dobrowo plant which will have a capacity of 197 MWp.

The contract covers engineering, procurement and construction of all three power plants as well as the associated HV/MV substations, high-voltage cable routes and grid connection infrastructure.

Goldbeck will oversee all phases of the project, from engineering and procurement to construction and commissioning. It said that the project “represents a significant milestone in Poland’s energy transition and supports the country’s goal of expanding renewable energy in its electricity mix.”

The Sidłowo-Kikowo-Dobrowo solar farm is part of a broader strategic initiative by Optima Wind, Virya Energy and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), who are launching Virya Renewables Poland – a new renewable energy platform with a project pipeline exceeding 2 GW in potential capacity across the country.
