Genesis GmbH, a division of international Equipment Solutions (IES), gathered together existing customers and dealers from around Europe on 9 November to celebrate the official opening of its new assembly and office facility in Memmingen, Germany. Covering a total area of 3,300 square metres (35,520 square feet), the new location provides an assembly area of 660 square metres (7,100 square feet) with office space covering 340 square metres (3,660 square feet). The assembly area will be used to produce shears for the European market, with bodies shipped in from the USA and other necessary components sourced from around Europe. Construction took just five months starting in February and was completed in July, with Genesis taking occupancy in August 2015. One primary reason behind the establishment of the new facility is to provide the company with sufficient space to allow it to expand its operations and capabilities to meet the growth in demand for its products that Genesis Gmbh confidently expects.

To underline the importance of the new location and the investment required was the presence at the opening of parent company IES’s CEO Steve Andrews. He said of the investment: “When IES acquired Genesis and the other companies from Dover in 2011, 90% of the turnover was generated in the USA and Dover had no designs on growing its non-US business. To us, the globalisation of the businesses we acquired, including Genesis, and committing the investment necessary to grow them internationally was fundamental to our strategy. This is our latest investment as part of this strategy for Genesis in Europe and shows our commitment not only to the German market but the broader European market. Another fundamental part of our strategy is to ensure that we have the strongest brands in the industries in which we operate and we believe that we have that with Genesis.”
