Force One adapts Brokk 520D for vacuum excavation

United Kingdom-based excavation specialist Force One, part of the Ready Power Group, has modified a remote-controlled Brokk demolition robot to work with vacuum excavation, enabling material extraction in confined areas where larger equipment cannot operate.

Force One’s adapted Brokk 520D robot has been fitted with an extension attachment that connects directly to a suction excavator.

This setup allows the Brokk to manoeuvre in tight spaces while the excavator vacuum system extracts the material. The company also installed an Xwatch XW4 height and slew system on the unit, for improved safety.

Xwatch Safety Solutions carried out the safety system installation, with engineer Adam Guilfoyle adapting the machine’s compact design to integrate the XW4 system.

Adam said: “All joking apart, for a small machine, everything on it is really accessible. The installation was very successful. As engineers, we always enjoy the challenge and the opportunity to provide bespoke solutions.”

The Xwatch XW4 system monitors and restricts height and slew movement, improving control in confined or high-risk environments.

“Safety is always at the top of our list,” said Declan Burke, Managing Director of Force One. “We’ve seamlessly transitioned all our civil safety systems to Xwatch because of its precision, ease of use, and reliability.”
