The excavator was used at a specialist building business in Börtlingen, Baden-Württemberg, at the request of the Technische Hilfswerk (THW), the federal civil protection agency.

Because of the precarious situation at the scene, the roof had to be dismantled bit by bit and the Atlas 140W blue model, with adjustable boom, was deployed for the task.

According to Atlas, the flexibility of the boom and the sturdiness of the excavator was a straightforward job that was finished quickly.

Other advantages of the excavator include the 2 m (6 ft) swivel radius of the boom, while the AWE 5 hydraulic load sensing system with 250 bar operating pressure is said to enable the mobile excavator to move weights of more than 7 t.
