Prolec's Liftwatch 5 rated capacity indicator (RCI) has achieved European type approval under the Machinery Directive 42/EC/2006, which states that all RCI manufacturers must meet stringent design, functionality and reliability standards, proven through independent assessment. According to engineering director Tony Adams, Liftwatch 5 underwent such an assessment that resulted in certification for the product as of March 2011. He said: "For Prolec and our customers this is a real bonus, as we can be confident that the use of this product will fulfil relevant legislation and will meet all the requirements for controlling an excavator while lifting.

Sales and marketing director Gart Tuffy said of the achievement: "Liftwatch 5 has been the industry's benchmark RCI since its inception. We've always looked to ensure this product meets relevant legislation and to ensure our customers are able to rely on Prolec's active adherence to the code so they can lift safely, efficiently and within the law. Having recently gained type approval for our Liftwatch Rail product, this continues our drive to fully certify our safety product line to ensure they meet necessary legislative requirements."
