The development reflects the company’s growing focus on India as a key hub for manufacturing and research and development.

The investment in Hyderabad includes expanding the existing factory with new buildings, machinery, and additional land. “India is a key growth market and an important manufacturing and innovation hub for the Epiroc Group,” said Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO. “This investment shows our trust in India’s future potential.”

Epiroc has operated in India for over 60 years and employs around 1,600 people across multiple locations, including Hyderabad, Nashik, Bangalore, and Pune.

The Hyderabad factory, which produces rock drilling tools such as rotary bits and down-the-hole products, previously doubled its capacity in 2017. With this new investment, the facility will create employment for approximately 30 additional workers, with expanded production expected to begin in April 2025.

“This investment will create a base for future expansion of our rock drilling tools capacity to support the growing Indian market,” said Arunkumar Govindarajan, President of Epiroc India. He also highlighted the company’s alignment with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, which encourages local manufacturing and development.

In addition to the manufacturing expansion, Epiroc is opening a satellite innovation and technology centre in Hyderabad. This centre will work alongside Epiroc’s main innovation hub in Bangalore, focusing on accelerating the development of new products and technologies.

“By opening an innovation and technology centre in Hyderabad, we are tapping into the vast talent pool in this key region,” said Chandu Rao, General Manager of Epiroc’s Innovation & Technology Center in India. “This will strengthen our efforts to support customers with the latest innovative products and solutions.”

These initiatives demonstrate Epiroc’s commitment to supporting both the Indian market and its customers throughout the region with advanced tools and technologies.
