Edge Innovate has expanded its portfolio of shredders, adding a 150-tph-capacity model its offering.

Launched at the recent Hillhead exhibition in the United Kingdom, the new EDGE VS750i is a twin shaft, primary shredder that is designed to handle a wide range of material types, including construction debris, municipal solid waste, industrial waste, commercial waste and bulky waste.

Available as either a mobile or static unit, the VS750i is aims to meet the needs of waste processing operations where the incoming materials vary greatly in size and composition.

According to Edge, the model can handle difficult to shred feed material as well as a high percentage of non-shreddable materials. It said: “The interaction between the large cutting table and highly aggressive rotating knives on the dual shafts, which run asynchronously in both directions, ensures the input material is constantly moving to prevent bridging and maximize processing efficiency.”

The new model, which “drew significant attention at the event from both the media and exhibitor visitors”, offers a high torque, low-speed shredding mechanism that is said to deliver high performance while maintaining energy efficiency.

Key features of the EDGE VS750i include a 563 kW (755 hp) Caterpillar engine, twin 2.5m (8’2”) long shredder shafts made from solid steel, an open cutting table, hydraulic hopper extensions, and an automatic tipping hopper.

The model also benefits from a “one point” service area for easy maintenance, and incorporates the manufacturer’s intelligent load management system, which helps to maximise uptime and smooth operation.
