Demolition & Recycling International (D&Ri) is sad to announce that editor and World Demolition Summit programme organiser, Leila Steed, is to step down from her role as the brands’ figurehead, with the handover to incoming editor Lewis Tyler now underway.

Leila, who joined magazine publisher KHL Group in 2019, will bid farewell to the company on 14 July 2025 after over six years.

Leila said: “Being at KHL has been an extraordinary experience and I’m so grateful to have been entrusted with D&Ri. In all my career, I’ve never encountered an industry as passionate, generous, intelligent, or as welcoming as demolition.

“From the moment I became D&Ri editor, I felt completely embraced and supported by the contractors, engineers, surveyors, machine operators, project managers, and the equipment experts at so many of our amazing demolition equipment manufacturers. The incredible people in this industry truly are second to none. It’s been a real privilege!”

During her time as editor, Leila helped guide the publication through a period of significant change and, as programme organiser for the World Demolition Summit & Awards, played a key role in developing the industry event’s expanded format and conference programme.

D&Ri is also pleased to announce that Leila will be succeeded by Lewis Tyler, who joins the magazine from sister publication International Rental News and brings over 10 years of experience in international construction journalism and B2B publishing.

Lewis said: “It’s a privilege to be stepping into the editor role at D&Ri. The magazine has a strong reputation in the demolition and recycling sectors, and I’m looking forward to continuing its legacy of high-quality, informative coverage.”

D&Ri would like to thank Leila for her commitment and contribution to the publication and the wider demolition industry, and wishes her the very best for the future. We look forward to welcoming Lewis as her successor and to seeing the brand continue to grow under his leadership. Lewis will officially take over the role on 15 July 2025, and will be based in KHL’s United Kingdom headquarters.
