Digger Guard launches secondary cab protection glazing

Designed as a durable external sacrificial impact shield fitted over existing cab glass, the Lexan Margard hard-coated polycarbonate glazing acts as a “virtually unbreakable” first line of defence against flying debris, vandalism and high-velocity impacts, said Digger Guard.

Clearview works by absorbing and dispersing impact energy before it reaches the original glazing. This helps protect operators, preserve OEM cab glass, reduce repair costs and minimise machine downtime.

The British manufacturer also used the show to introduce Sky Shield weather defender kits for open-cab machinery and ground stabilisation Outrigger Pads.

Sky Shield is a range of impact resistant, glass-like polymer panels for protecting operators from UV exposure, rain and wind as well as airborne debris and fixed object hazards in indoor and outdoor applications.

Meanwhile, the high-vis polymer-based Outrigger Pads are designed to provide “reliable” ground stabilisation for heavy plant and utility vehicles.

Digger Guard noted that the pads can be made in customised, branded versions, and tailored to specific site and application requirements.

Sales director Dave Smith, who spoke at the launch, said, “The introduction of Clearview secondary glazing, alongside Sky Shield and our Outrigger Pads, demonstrates our continued investment in practical, high-performance heavy plant protection systems that improve safety, reduce costs, and keep machines working.”

Digger Guard also highlighted that beyond its proprietary product innovations, it operates as a design-to-manufacture partner in the heavy equipment protection space, working with OEMs, fleet operators, contractors and plant hire businesses.

At Hillhead, the Clearview secondary glazing was shown on a Hitachi ZX135US excavator, while the Sky Shield had been fitted on a Yanmar ViO17 mini excavator
