Brokk has introduced a new 11 tonne remote control demolition robot, the Brokk 800, that it says meets customers' demands for longer reach and high capacity. The new machine is available in two models, the Standard and Process, with the latter having been specially designed to carry out complicated jobs in hot environments.

Speaking of the latter, CEO Martin Krupicka said: "Furnaces and ladles in process plants are getting larger and tunnels are also made bigger, which calls for heavier equipment. The Brokk 800 is our response to these customer demands."

The Standard machine has a reach of 10 m (33 ft), a impact capacity more than twice that of the 400 and a tool capacity of 1,200 kg (2,640 lb) on its three-arm system. The heat-protected Process version features an arm with a specially designed breaker with 360 degree rotation. It also features a special hit-bend-and-break function that provides control when the machine is being used to clean out ladles and furnaces.
