It is not just C&D waste processors who are seeing the advantages offered by using modern mobile crushing and screening equipment. Increasingly, these machines are being used in other construction projects to produce base and fill materials on the actual construction site.

One such case is the site in the Adirondack area of New York State, USA, at Kingsbury, where a residential development is under construction. To hold costs to a minimum the project owner, CW Custom Builders LLC, wants to minimise the importation/exportation of any more stone waste from construction activities than necessary.

As a result, it has brought two contractors, Adirondack Portable Crushing and Don Kingsley Excavating LLC and their respective Fintec crushing plants onto the site to process blasted rock. Adirondack is using two Fintec tracked mobile crushers, a 1107 jaw and a 1080 cone in sequence to crush 64,000 tonnes of blasted rock to produce 2-in minus base and fill materials. Meanwhile, Kingsley is also using a 1107 jaw crusher on the site and expects to excavate and crush 224,000 tonnes of blasted rock for phase one of the project.
