Crane manufacturer distributes $26 million employee bonus

The owner of a large industrial crane manufacturer in China distributed nearly three quarters of his company’s profit for the year to his employees, according to South China Morning Post and other local news reports.

As part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, company owner Cui Peijun distributed a total of CNY 180 million (US$26 million), it was reported, as a performance bonus to his employees. Cui is said to hold 98.8 per cent of Henan Kuangshan Crane Co., Ltd’s shares. Total net profit for the company in 2025 was reported to be around CNY 270 million ($39 million).

On 13 February at an annual company gala event to mark the occasion, more than CNY 60 million ($8.7 million) in cash was distributed, it was reported. Photos show piles of cash stacked on tables surrounded by employees who reportedly took turns counting it in a fixed time and got to take home that amount.

Not the first time

It is not the first time Cui has issued a bonus like this, having done the same thing in 2024 with a similar amount of money and, in 2025 on World Women’s Day, 2,000 female employees shared CNY 1.6 million ($234,000) in bonuses, SCMP reported.

Henan Kuangshan Crane Co., Ltd., founded in 2002 in Henan Province, now has 4,500 employees. It manufactures a wide range of “Kuangyuan” single and double girder overhead travelling cranes, single and double girder gantry cranes, wire rope hoists, jib cranes, ladle cranes and accessories. It also offers crane components, spreaders and scissor type aerial work platforms.

The company said in 2020 its “production and sales exceeded 100,000 units (sets).” It has 200 engineers working in product design and development.
