CessCon Decom to use 50 t Sany for dismantling project

CessCon Decon is to use a brand new Sany SY500H excavator to undertake decommissioning works to ten oil platforms at a yard in Methil, Scotland.

The machine, which was purchased by the demolition specialist company immediately after it was awarded the onshore decommissioning project.

It was recently delivered to the company, which will use it to the dismantle the oil will be used to the dismantle the platform structures before they are recycled.

The 50.5 t Sany model is equipped with a Cummins diesel engine and offers 400 hp and a digging depth of over 12 m (39 ft).

CessCon Decom will use the excavator with both a 6 t Fortress shear and a 152 cm (60 in) director mount bucket, provided by United Kingdom-based manufacturer Miller Plant.

Lyle Sibbald, general manager at Sany UK & Ireland (Scotland) said: “This big 500 is a fantastic machine, well put together and it’s up there with the market leaders.

“So that being said, it’s really important for us that we have attachments that are of a similar quality, and we feel Miller offer the full package with their technical knowledge and quality fitting attachments. That’s why we choose to use Miller.”
