Completed in May 2021, C&D’s project encompassed a five-year period that included both Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic, so to say it was not without its challenges is an understatement.
C&D Demolition Consultants brings its expertise to a previously almost demolition-free island
Awards judge Patrick Frye announced the result and the judges added: “C&D collaborated, co-ordinated and ultimately delivered a very complex demolition project – all on an island location with practically no previous demolition experience.”
With the company having to consider the Grade 1 listed Fort Regent, sheer cliffs on both the east and west sides of the ramparts, the largest asbestos removal in the island’s history, live car parks to all gable ends of the sites and a children’s nursery within 2 m (6ft) of the tunnel entrance, C&D’s Mike Kehoe called the project “a real team effort on behalf of all parties”.
