Sandvik's new BR2577 breaker features noise and vibration damping, and sound suppression systems.

Sandvik has unveiled two new breakers for the global market featuring noise and vibration damping, and sound suppression systems, making them ideal for demolition and recycling applications in urban environments.

The BR2155 for carriers in the 16 to 26 tonne range has a working weight of 1220 kg and an impact rate of between 490 and 780 blows/minute, while the mid-range BR2577 for carriers in the 23 to 28 tonne range weighs 1700 kg and features an impact rate of between 450 and 750 blows/minute.

Alan Matchett, Sandvik's demolition and recycling segment manager for the UK and Ireland said, "We've used new materials in these breakers to make them lighter than their predecessors, yet we've retained the same levels of productivity.

"We designed both breakers for the low price market to counter the threat from Asia, yet through a retrofit options package, both can be upgraded for the premium market."

Even in standard specification, both breakers feature Sandvik's vibration damping system (VIDAT) and improved piston seals to prevent oil leakage.

Options include a safety valve to prevent oil over flow, automatic greasing for the valve head and wear plates to protect the casing.

"When developing these breakers we wanted them to be quiet, easy to maintain, environmentally friendly, user friendly and with a good service life," said Mr Matchett. "At the same time, the flexible approach to design and options means users can retrofit the hammers after purchase to suit specific applications."

Retrofit options include an idle blow protector to protect against blank firing, a soft blow sensor that reduces the impact power and frequency in softer conditions, Ramair dust suppression, Ramona performance and operation monitor with alerts and Ramdata for operating data collection.

The mounting plates on both breakers feature the same dimensions as Sandvik's existing range to ensure compatibility.
