With an operating weight of 8 t, the E88 mini excavator is now the largest in the manufacturer’s compact equipment range.

The model, which replaces the M-Series E85 machine, is fitted with a Bobcat D24 Stage V-compliant 4-cylinder engine that offers a power output of 48.5 kW (65 HP).

The engine incorporates a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) for “maximum reliability, efficiency and environmental protection”.

A key feature of the model is that it has a longer undercarriage than its predecessor, which provides better stability and enables “a full range of attachments to be used”.

Bobcat said, “The E88 is designed to achieve superior 360-degree stability in any situation, even when digging over the side or when handling heavier loads.

“It is a well-balanced machine for operating with different attachments owing to improved weight distribution, extended track length, optimized counterweight design and dual flange rollers guaranteeing superb over the side stability.”

The R2-Series E88, which is available in a standard or long arm configuration, comes with two arm mounted hydraulic auxiliary lines - one general purpose hydraulic line and one for hydraulic coupler control.

Additionally, Bobcat said: “The award-winning A-SAC (Advanced Selectable Auxiliary Control) technology enables a wide range of machine customizations to match any attachment requirement, making this excavator an excellent tool carrier.”

A further three hydraulic lines are available for supporting functions such as rotation, tilting control and clam shell bucket operation.

When it comes to machine control, the cab of the E88 includes low effort joysticks coupled with a new generation control valve, for improved metering for smooth control and finite movement.

Like previous Bobcat R2-Series machines, the mini excavator’s cab also offers a fully adjustable seat, plenty of headroom and legroom, and heating and air conditioning.

While the machine is fitted with a 5-inch touch screen display as standard, a optional 7-inch display is available as an option, as is a rear camera kit that provides a high resolution video feed via the touch screen display.

Although the E88 is 100 mm narrower than its predecessor, the model boasts both greater stability and higher lift capacities.

In addition, transport measurement of 2200 mm in width and 2540 mm in height, mean it “can be transported on a container truck without the risk of being over the EU maximum legal truck height”.
