Bauma China visitor numbers rise to 191,000

01 December 2014

Visitor numbers for last week’s Bauma China exhibition were up +8% to 191,000 people despite the on-going downturn in the Chinese construction equipment market. The previous event, held in November 2012 attracted 180,000 visitors.

Bauma China 2014 was held from 25 – 28 November at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Shanghai, China. It was the seventh time the show has been held, following its launch in 2002.

According to organiser, Messe München, the 191,000 visitors came from 149 different countries, and the number of international visitors was up +12%. After China, the top ten visitor countries and regions abroad were Russia, Korea, Japan, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indonesia – in that order.

Bauma China once again filled all the available exhibition space – a total of 300,000 m2. This year’s show featured 3,104 exhibitors from 41 countries, compared to 2,718 exhibitors from 38 countries in 2012. Some 2,097 exhibitor companies were from China. The remaining 1,007 were from overseas.

After China, the top five exhibitor countries were Germany, the US, Italy, South Korea and Japan. Bauma China also featured nine national pavilions, from Austria, Finland, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Turkey, the UK and US.

The next Bauma China takes place at the SNIEC from November 22 to 25, 2016. The organisers have denied rumours that the show is due to move to a new venue in 2016.
