Atlas Copco has completed the acquisition of German manufacturer Erkat Spezialmaschinen und Service.

The Hämbach-based company, which supplies drum cutter attachments for skid steer loaders and excavators for use in demolition and construction applications, will now be legally known as Anbaufräsen PC.

However, the Erkat brand name will be retained.

It has more than 15 years’ experience of developing, manufacturing and applying rock cutting excavator attachments.

“Erkat is not changing,” said sales director Christoph Goebel.

“As a member of the Atlas Copco group we will be stronger and fitter for the challenges of the future.

“We may have a new owner but our commitment to providing top quality products with the high level of service that our customers have come to expect from Erkat remains.”

Torsten Ahr, vice president marketing at Atlas Copco’s construction tools division, added: “We have signed a longer-term lease on the site in Hämbach. All the employees have moved over and of course we will continue with all Erkat dealership agreements.

“Erkat is important for us, because drum cutters bridge a gap between conventional buckets which are suitable for excavating soil, and our hydraulic hammers that are used for removing bedrock.”
