October 1 was a memorable date for Deutscher Abbruchverband (DA, or German Demolition Association) managing director Andreas Pocha – he celebrated 20 years in the job.

In that time the association has added more than 500 new members to reach its current total of 810, while the DA has participated in the DIN and VDI standardisation committees to improve technical standards in the industry.

Its annual conference in Berlin, which next takes place in March 2022, has also become one of the focal points for Europe’s demolition community over the years.

DA chairman Johann Ettengruber commented: “At the end of the day, of course, it’s the decisions of the members which determine the course, too.

“But thanks to Mr Pocha’s prudent management, we have been able to reach many important milestones in the development of our association in the last two decades.

“There are still many goals and tasks that we will be happy to implement with the imaginative, energetic and experienced management of Andreas Pocha.”
