Adapteo takes first orders in Belgium

22 April 2021

Portable accommodation company Adapteo is planning what it describes as “a rapid expansion into Belgium” as it takes its first orders there, comprising around 1,300 square metres of turnkey buildings to two customers.

Finland headquartered Adapteo operates in Northern Europe.

It builds, rents and sells modular buildings, which follow circular sustainable principles, are designed for quick assembly and “can be used for a few days or indefinitely.”

The expansion into Belgium follows its acquisition last October of Dutch Cabin Group, which manufactures, rents and sells temporary accommodation and has operations in the Netherlands and Germany.

Philip Isell Lind af Hageby, President and CEO of Adapteo, said; “To further strengthen our presence in Continental Europe, and specifically Belgium with its attractive market drivers, this became the natural step after the Dutch Cabin Group acquisition.

“The need for high-quality, adaptable buildings that can be scaled up, down, or repurposed is great in the country, especially within Social Infrastructure.”

Growing demand for portable accommodation in Belgium and across Europe was partly driven by Covid-19, he added.

“The ongoing pandemic also provides a demand for flexibility in society, where extra space to keep people safe is needed.”

There was “great potential” in the expansion to Belgium, added Jorg Schilder, Managing Director of Dutch Cabin Group.

“The fact that we already have good customer collaborations in Belgium shows the demand for high-quality, adaptable buildings.”

Adapteo now operates in seven countries: Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. The Nasdaq Stockholm listed company posted net sales of €231 million for 2020.

It was previously part of rental company Cramo, but split from Cramo in June 2019, in a demerger entailing the transfer of Cramo’s modular accommodation business to Adapteo.
