ReEnergy Holdings LLC, who uses wood biomass and other wood waste to produce renewable energy, has acquired KTI Bio Fuels Inc’s construction and demolition waste processing facility in Lewiston in Maine, USA. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Lewiston facility has been handling non-hazardous construction and demolition waste for more than 20 years and uses both mechanical and manual sorting to recover material that can be used as fuel at biomass-to-energy-facilities. ReEnergy expects its processing experience and technology to recover additional wood from the waste stream to reduce volumes going to landfill and increase wood fuel production.

ReEnergy currently operates nine renewable energy generation facilities in Maine, New York, Connecticut and North Carolina, along with three construction and demolition facilities that serve the eastern New England/Boston metropolitan area.
