Genie used the American Rental Association tradeshow in Las Vegas, USA, to take the wraps of its latest addition to its telehandler product line, the 11.3 tonne (25,000 lb) Tier 4 Interim compliant GTH-844B, which will replace the existing GHT-844 when it enters full production at the end of 2012.

The 844B machine offers a maximum lift height of 13.4 m (44 ft) and a reach of 8.5 m (28 ft) and has a gross lift capacity of 3,629 kg (8,000 lb). At full height, the lift capacity is 2,722 kg (6,000 lb) and at full reach it can carry 907 kg (2,000 lb). The new engine has been mounted on the right side of the machine as opposed to centrally, a new operator's station has been designed and the width of the machine has been reduced to 2.4 m (8 ft).

"Using customer input, we have completely redesigned our 8K telehandler," said Scott Krieger, Terex Aerial Work Platform (AWP) senior product manager for Genie booms and telehandlers."By moving the engine and lowering the dash, the GTH-844B provides excellent visibility while also providing greater access for serviceability. We are also pleased to be doing our part towards improving the environment by offering Tier 4i engines."
