Liberty Industrial’s Steve Andrew has seen significant changes in the decommissioning and demolition industry’s development since he joined it more than 40 years ago.

Now, as global business development and asset closure director within the Australian company’s European management team based in the United Kingdom, Steve will draw on that considerable experience when he speaks at D&Ri’s “Safety and Sustainability in Demolition and Recycling” virtual conference on 27 April.

Steve, who has been a contractor, consultant and client’s engineer in his long career, will combine all these elements in a presentation titled “Things I wish someone had told me when I started in this industry”.

He told D&Ri: “The industry has developed into a science compared to ‘the good old days’.

“There are common themes and issues that constantly arise during projects of this type, and it would have been useful to learn about these in the early stages of my career, knowing it would certainly have removed a lot of issues, not to mention a little stress.

“Delegates will be able to hear about real-life examples of some of the lessons I have learned, and what I would do differently today.”

At the online event, Steve will be joined by Kiro Tamer, head of environmental sustainability at UK-based contractor Keltbray, and Italian demolition company Despe’s CEO Stefano Panseri.

A fourth speaker will be announced shortly and there will also be a round table discussion after the individual presentations, while delegates will be able to submit questions to the speakers.
