Sessler Wrecking completes demolition of dormitories at Winthrop University

Sessler Wrecking has completed the mechanical demolition of Wofford Hall and Richardson Hall, two nine-story dormitories at Winthrop University.

The company used a CAT 352 Ultra High Reach excavator, which has a reach of 98 feet, to carry out the demolition. In addition to dismantling the buildings, Sessler Wrecking handled asbestos abatement, utility removal, backfilling, grading, and site preparation.

According to the company, the project took place within an active campus environment, requiring measures to maintain access to student parking and nearby facilities while protecting surrounding structures.

Sessler Wrecking stated that the university’s fire pump system was safeguarded throughout the process and described the project as being completed “with minimal impact on campus operations.”
