NDA opens technician and supervisor exam windows

The National Demolition Association (NDA) has announced that applications for its upcoming Certified Demolition Supervisor (CDS) and Certified Demolition Technician (CDT) exams must be submitted by 31 May 2025.

The CDT exams are scheduled to take place between 7 and 18 July and are aimed at field workers and equipment operators who have at least two years of demolition experience, and have completed OSHA, first aid and fall protection training.

According to the NDA, this certification is intended for individuals who can “recognize common and unique hazards associated with demolition work,” “understand and apply relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards,” and “demonstrate proficiency in a specific demolition task or operation.”

Applicants who register for the CDT certification before the 31 May deadline can take advantage of an introductory exam rate of US$240. After that date, the exam fee will increase to US$300.

Meanwhile, the higher-level CDS certification is designed for experienced professionals in leadership roles. The exams are due to take place between 18 and 25 July and are open to demolition professionals and supervisors with a minimum of 5 years hands-on demolition experience.

The NDA stated that this certification is for those who “lead crews and coordinate jobsite activities from start to finish,” “enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols,” and “communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and team members.”
