RWO launches geotechnical department

Based in Stokesly, North Yorkshire, the geotechnical department will allow the UK-based company to offer Phase I desk studies, geotechnical assessment of soils and rock, contaminated land assessments, mining risk assessment, slope stability assessment and remediation advice to its customers.

Chris Rudd, a geo-environmental engineer who has previously worked at Earth Environmental & Geotechnical Ltd, has been appointed as director and will lead the geotechnical division.

Rudd has worked in geotechnical and contaminated land ground investigation, geotechnical interpretation, coal mining legacy, land remediation, landfill engineering and waste classification in a career that spans over 20 years.

Chris said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of building a highly skilled, well-resourced and dedicated team to meet the client needs as the firm moves ahead in the coming months despite the challenging economic conditions.

“We see opportunities across the UK as construction and the new homes sector continue to invest, with some great projects coming online.”

The company, which also has offices in Leeds and Newcastle, said that it expects the department to grow in the coming months, as it ramps up efforts to recruit additional specialist engineers and technicians to meet demand.
