If a sale cannot be achieved, the company said it may discontinue and wind down the operations.

The review is part of Metso’s strategy to focus on businesses with global scale and financial performance that support its growth ambitions. The operations under review employ around 110 people, most of them in Finland.

Saso Kitanoski, President of Metso’s Consumables business area, said: ”This type of considerations are never taken lightly, hence this announcement comes after a careful evaluation.

“We recognise and highly value the dedication and professionalism of our employees in the loading and hauling business.

“We believe that the business’ value and future potential can be best realized under new ownership. We will work actively to identify the interested parties. During this process, it goes without saying that we will actively take care of our customer commitments,”

Metso said it will begin consultation processes with employee representatives in Finland and Sweden in line with local legislation before taking any final decisions.

The business has operations in Kokkola and Kalajoki, Finland, and in Luleå, Sweden. It manufactures truck bodies, buckets and ground engaging tools for mining and aggregates applications.
