The European Demolition Association (EDA) has partnered with a key demolition and remediation sector event, signing a deal with the Environmental Services & Solutions Expo (ESS).

Comprising five distinct sector-specific events - among which are the Resource & Waste Management Expo, the Energy, Fuels & Decarbonisation Expo, the Water Resource Management Expo, and the Contamination & Land Remediation Expo, the ESS Expo will be held at the NEC in Birmingham from 11 to 12 September, 2024.

The EDA said: “We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a collaboration agreement with the Environmental Services & Solutions Expo for their highly anticipated event: Contamination & Land Remediation (CLR) Expo.

“We encourage all EDA members to take advantage of this unique opportunity to network, learn, and collaborate with industry leaders,” said the EDA.

A highlight of this year’s ESS/CLR Expo programme will be a presentation on the 2020 Llangennech derailment disaster, in which a freight train carrying over two million litres of diesel derailed in Wales, spilling over 300,000 litres into a highly sensitive environment.

Described as one of the most challenging clean-up operations of the past 25 years, the presentation will share an overview of that operation, including the emergency response efforts and the strategy developed to successfully deliver the ongoing containment, investigation, assessment, and restoration of the spill.

This year’s ESS Expo, which is partnered with the UK Environment Agency, is expected to attract over 12,000 visitors, and while registration for the event is now open, only a limited number of early-bird free tickets are available.
