New Zaxis-7 machine can carry 5-tonne construction work tools

Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe is to bring an excavator that has been specially adapted to carry larger demolition tools to Intermat 2024, which will take place in Paris, France, from 24 to 27 of April.

The manufacturer’s ZX390TC-7 excavator, which has a maximum operating weight of 39.2 t, features a Stage V-compliant engine and the company’s Zaxis-7 technology, as well as a number of key features that make it uniquely suitable for secondary demolition works.

Chief among them are larger boom and bucket cylinders, and a one-class-higher reinforced linkage, that “enable the ZX390TC-7 to carry five-tonne tools, such as hydraulic shears for crushing that would normally be used by larger machines”.

According to Hitachi, it is also equipped with a full hydraulic control system that can be used with all attachments, which themselves “can be changed within seconds from the operator’s seat”.

The design of the excavator model is actually based on that of the ZX350LC-7 standard excavator but, unlike the standard machine, it also has an undercarriage that is 25 cm longer for added stability, and an additional 1.4-t counterweight.

Hitachi added: “To ensure the safety of operators, the machine has side impact protection and a demolition-spec cab with FOPS guard level 2 and high-spec P5A safety glass.

“Safety is also enhanced by the exceptional visibility from the cab, particularly from the 270-degree bird’s-eye view provided by the Aerial Angle camera system.”

The new ZX390TC-7, which is fully covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and service programmes, aims to meet the specific needs of those carrying out demolition works.

Burkhard Janssen, Product Manager Special Applications and New Technologies at Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe), said: “The introduction of the ZX390TC-7 shows how Hitachi is addressing the specific requirements of such industries, delivering a specially equipped model that sits between the existing ZX350LC-7 and ZX490LCH-7 models.”
