The in-house holistic training aims to help the company’s 185 employees to maintain “positive health and wellbeing by teach self-awareness techniques”.

According to O’Donovan, which was purchased by Nordic recycling giant Sortera just last year, the programme will give staff tools to help them manage difficult emotions such as anxiety.

The training will focus on self-awareness techniques and practical skills that aim to increase “as they face day-to-day challenges in their work and private lives”.

Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director at O’Donovan - which is aiming to become Net Zero by 2035 and recently secured a licence for hazardous waste disposal, said: “O’Donovan was the first company in the waste sector to introduce a wellbeing strategy back in 2019 and the timing could not have been better. Our team are our biggest asset and the training they had undertaken stood them in good stead for the challenges and uncertainty that the pandemic brought about.

“Now it is time for the next phase and we are delighted to update the training content which continues to focus on supporting the resilience and mental health of our colleagues.

“We consider safeguarding their physical and mental health a top priority. The ongoing investment in this type of interactive training demonstrates to staff that their wellbeing continues to be of paramount importance.”
